Abstract

State level estimates of total factor productivity growth were derived for the Corn Belt region. The dual profit function approach was used for estimation. The rates of growth were found to vary across states ranging from O. 0143 (Missouri) to 0.0442 (Indiana) . The results also supported the contention that growth rates declined during the 1970's.
