Abstract
This paper aims to study the determinants of occupational insertion
of young people from Ceará, ages ranging from 15 to 24 years, based on data
provided by the PNAD-IBGE in year 2011. We used the multinomial logit
model and the main results for the State indicate that young women are more
likely to be out of the labor force and only study and men are in the job market,
only working or working and studying. Young person whose mother lives in
the household is more likely to study and one who lives with a partner have
a greater chance of dropping out. Per capita household income has a negative
relationship with the option of not studying and not working. As the head of
household ages, the chance decreases of the young only work and work and
study, and the chance of the young only study increases as the higher the level
of education of household head.
