Abstract
This article presents the results of the questionnaire survey of food products purchasers on the
understanding and significance of the contents of food product labels as well as the range of its use in the
decision-making process. Nutritional and health-related claims on food product labels provide valuable
data concerning the nutritional properties of these products. In order to use this information correctly, the
consumer must be able to understand and adequately interpret it in the context of the nutritional needs of the
organism. The easiness to notice them on the package is also very important for consumers. Their opinions
concerning usefulness of the information on food product labels should motivate producers to give a more
effective transfer of this kind of data.
