Abstract

Transfer of family farms to successors is a natural process, the aim of which is to ensure the continuation of farming and farm development which occurs during the transfer of new knowledge, openness to new ideas in the field of agriculture and other characteristics attributable to young people. Research has shown that the young generation is characterized by creativity hosts large theoretical knowledge on agricultural issues and openness to new techniques and production technologies. However, it is the older generation who besides more practical knowledge, are characterized by greater courage in making decisions about the future of the farm and not rarely help young farmers with involving in challenging ventures. Farm succession is accompanied by various kinds of concerns, but in the case of the surveyed farms, most of them belong to the young successors and mostly they concern if they will be able to maintain their families living on farming and whether as farm managers they will cope with the challenges posed by everyday responsible decisions related to this job.
