Abstract
The main objective of this article is to present the results of research on the restructuring of the Polish
fishing fleet and its impact on fish market in Poland. The research is based on data the Sea Fisheries Institute
in Gdynia, market reports of the Institute of Food and Agriculture, and the available literature and Internet
sources. The study included data for the years 2004-2012 and concerned issues such as: changes in fleet
capacity, evaluation of the fish industry, analysis of the structure of catches and average selling prices of
selected assortments of fish. Based on the results, it was found that the current potential of the Polish fishing
fleet is sufficient and there is no need for it to reduce. Changes in fleet capacity had no direct impact on the
situation on the Polish market fish, because the supply of fish and fish products come mainly from imports.
