Abstract

The aim of the survey was the assessment of changes affecting entrepreneurship in rural areas of Lower Silesian Province in the years 2002-2011, in spatial terms. The assessment was based on index of enterpreneurial activity, referring to the number of business entities registered in REGON system, caunted over one thousand inhabitants. The research covered 133 rural communities and urban – rural communities. The analysis of spatial distribution of Lower Silesian communities, representing diverse levels of entrepreneurship, made use of statistical method of cluster analysis. In the examined period, diversification of rural areas regarding their state of entrepreneurship took place. Economic activity featured especially the communities surrounding Wrocław urban agglomeration, Legnica and Głogów urban agglomeration, as well as the communities in The Sudetes region.
