Abstract

The emergence of Dried Distillers Grains with Solubles (DDGS) as a viable feedstuff for swine producers coincides with escalating feedstuff prices, increased DDGS production and changes in processing resulting in increases in available nutrients in DDGS. Evaluation of the nutritional and market characteristics of DDGS is useful for both ethanol and swine producers in establishing the value of this coproduct of ethanol production. This paper uses a minimum-cost feed formulation linear programming model to determine the value of DDGS in swine diets.
