Desde a década de 90 quando a questão ambiental envolvendo as mudanças climáticas foi debatida no âmbito internacional até os dias de hoje, mudanças significativas ocorreram em torno deste tema. Hoje para cientistas, pesquisadores e para a sociedade, o aquecimento global e suas implicações para o planeta já não são mais teorias futuristas, mas sim algo concreto que caso não seja combatido e controlado pode causar danos irreparáveis em um período bem inferior que antes se pensava. O Mecanismo de Desenvolvimento Limpo (MDL) representa uma das opções desenvolvidas pelos países signatários do Protocolo de Kyoto, e vem chamando a atenção por apresentar soluções econômicas e sustentáveis para as necessidades de redução das emissões mundiais de gases do efeito estufa. O Brasil é atualmente um dos principais participantes do MDL no mundo concentrando 9% das atividades em todo mundo. Em relação à distribuição dos 274 projetos instalados no país, as regiões sul-sudeste concentram aproximadamente 67% das atividades MDL. Apesar de toda concentração hoje a Região Amazônica que representa apenas 12% das atividades, surge como uma Região de grande potencial para o desenvolvimento de projeto. Este trabalho pretende através da análise das iniciativas já existentes na Região Amazônica, gerar dados e informações como, por exemplo, localização dos projetos, escopos setoriais, reduções de emissões, que auxiliem na análise presente da atividade MDL na Região assim como nos futuros projetos na região.---------------------- Since the decade of 90 when the environmental issue involving climate change was worldly discussed until today, significant changes occurred around this theme. Today for scientists, researchers and to society, global warming and its implications for the planet are not more futuristic theories, but something concrete that if not combated and controlled can cause irreparable damage in a much lower period than before previously thought. The Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) is one of the options developed by the countries signatories of the Kyoto Protocol, and has been drawing attention to present economic and sustainable solutions to the needs of reducing global emissions of greenhouse gases. Brazil is currently one of the main participants in the CDM in the world concentrating 9% of the activities worldwide. Regarding the distribution of 274 projects installed in the country, the regions south-southeast concentrated approximately 67% of CDM activities. In spite of that concentration today the Amazon Region represents only 12% of the activities, although inception to be a region of great potential for the development of project activities. This work intends through the analysis of existing initiatives in the Amazon Region, generate data and information such as location of the projects, sectoral scope, emissions reductions, which will help in the analysis of the CDM activity in the region as well as in the future projects in the Amazon Region.
